CADAthlon Brasil 2026 Highlights
The CADathlon Brasil 2026 – 6th Brazilian Programming Contest for Design Automation of Integrated Circuits (https://csbc.sbc.org.br/2026/cadathlon-brasil/) took place on July 23 in Gramado, Brazil, co-located with the 46th Annual Congress of SBC (Brazilian Computer Society). CADathlon Brasil is inspired by the ACM/SIGDA CADAthlon, held annually alongside the International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD). This year’s edition brought together 19 teams (a record) made up of pairs of students, from four of the five Brazilian regions. The teams worked throughout the day to solve four problems on Electronic Design Automation (EDA) related topics that were prepared by researchers from industry and academia. The top five teams of this edition were:
1st Place: team “Electronic Design Arts” (Lucas Tinoco, Felipe Savi), UFSC, Florianopolis
2nd Place: team “Brasil Venceu?” (Eduardo Quirino Oliveira, Henrique Ramos) UnB, Brasília
3rd Place: team “CADe meu silício” (Julio Avelar, Tiago Zaparoli), UNICAMP, Campinas
4th Place: team “Circuitos Hatsune Miku” (Henrique de Souza, Vinicius Miguel), UNICAMP, Campinas
5th Place: team “423” (Hans Heidemann, Caetano Peruzzo), UFSC, Florianopolis
CADathlon Brasil 2026 was organized by UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina), UFRGS (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul), UFPel (Federal University of Pelotas), UFS (Federal University of Sergipe), and IFSul (Sul-Rio-Grandense Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology), and supported by SBC/CECCI (Special Committee on Integrated Circuits and Systems Design of the Brazilian Computer Society), SBMicro (Brazilian Microelectronics Society), ACM/SIGDA, IEEE CASS, and IEEE CEDA.
The CADathlon Brasil 2026 Organizing Committee thanks the Congress of SBC organizers for their logistic support. We also express our gratitude to our sponsoring societies, ACM/SIGDA and IEEE CASS (through Rio Grande do Sul Chapter), to the Gold Sponsors Synopsys, Precision Innovations, and Cadence, and to the Silver Sponsors Chipus Microelectronics and Silvaco. Their generous financial support made it possible to subsidize travel costs for a record number of participating teams, making this the most successful CADAthlon Brasil edition to date.
The next CADathlon Brasil will take place alongside the 47th SBC Annual Congress in July 2027 in Manaus, at the heart of the Brazilian Amazon.
